2025 Ancient Buddha Nanhai (Guanyin Bodhisattva) Birthday Peaceful Vegetarian Meal

February 19th of the lunar calendar is the birthday of the Ancient Buddha Nanhai (Guanyin Bodhisattva)
On 16th March, Hongde, Shuide and Chengde Buddhist Temples jointly held a peace ceremony at the Fairfield, Sydney Taoist Centre of Fayi Chongde
We invite all Taoist friends and friends from the society to come and worship the immortals, Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, learn about the principles of Taoism and Buddhist etiquette, and enjoy a vegetarian feast.
On the day of the event, more than a hundred Taoists returned to the temple, and even more friends from the society came to receive the Tao.

The cooking team made a sacrifice and prepared a sumptuous vegetarian meal.

Eating a vegetarian meal is equivalent to releasing an animal. Eating a vegetarian meal for one day brings a hundred days of blessings.

Among all merits, not killing is the greatest.
Of all evil obstacles, killing is the greatest.

Being a vegetarian can cultivate compassion; not wanting to kill any living being, not wanting to eat the flesh and blood of animals, not only reduces the karma of killing, but also increases sympathy for human suffering.

Bodhidharma has a verse:
The blood and flesh are delicious and tasty.
Though the suffering of the animals is excruciating .
Put yourself in their shoes.
Who can cut himself with a knife?

Eating a vegetarian diet can make the world greener, provide humans with more clean water, improve air quality, and alleviate global warming, reducing the burden on the earth on which we depend for survival.

From an environmental protection perspective, vegetarianism is also the only choice to save the environmental crisis. Many studies have shown that the large-scale development of the aquaculture industry is the biggest culprit for climate warming. Twenty percent of the global greenhouse gas emissions come from the aquaculture industry, which exceeds the emissions of all transportation vehicles in the world. At the same time, the aquaculture industry also consumes a lot of land and water resources. Theoretically, if the earth's people can transform into vegetarians, they can save about 20% of the agricultural land area (caused by meat livestock), equivalent to 3.4 million square kilometers. And the demand for pesticides will also be reduced by about 30%.

Being a vegetarian has many merits. As a white yang era disciple, you should set an example, learn from Guanyin Bodhisattva, and save the world with compassion!
